Programme overview

Choose the school that fits your goals in Sydney

Sydney brings together universities, specialist colleges and English language centres in one vibrant city — giving you an unusually wide choice of programmes, from short conversational courses to academic preparation tracks. Rather than booking a trip and hoping for the best, you can select a school and course level that genuinely match your current English ability and your reason for studying. Tourist-visa entry allows stays of up to three months, making Sydney one of the most accessible destinations for a first overseas experience.

02

Daily learning

Interactive classes and a truly multicultural classroom

Language schools in Sydney favour active, communicative teaching — think group discussions, presentations and real-world tasks rather than grammar drills at a desk. Your classmates will come from well over 190 countries and territories, which means every conversation is genuine practice in cross-cultural communication. The city's multicultural character makes it easier to settle in, and the psychological barrier of speaking English in a new environment drops quickly.

03

Stay & setting

Homestay, dormitory or hotel — plus excellent city infrastructure

Accommodation options include homestay with a local family, a student dormitory, or a hotel — each suiting different budgets and levels of independence. Getting around Sydney is straightforward: the Opal card (or a contactless credit card) covers trains, buses and ferries across the network. Newly arrived students can also visit the Study NSW Welcome Desk, which provides guidance on transport, housing and everyday life — so settling in takes days, not weeks.

From our students

  1. I joined the two-week Sydney programme mainly to improve my spoken English, but I ended up gaining much more than that. The lessons were engaging and practical, and the teachers always made sure everyone could participate comfortably. I appreciated how smoothly the accommodation and airport arrangements were handled by the support team. Staying in a hotel near the city centre also made travelling around very convenient. Overall, it was a very efficient and rewarding short-term study experience.

  2. What I enjoyed most about the programme was the balance between study and activities. The school created a very supportive environment where students from different countries could communicate naturally. After classes, there were optional events almost every day, so it was easy to make friends and practise English outside the classroom as well. The coordinators were responsive and professional throughout the entire process, which made the experience stress-free.

  3. I extended my programme after the first month because I genuinely enjoyed studying there. The teachers were approachable and used many interactive activities during lessons, so learning never felt boring. I also appreciated the local support team, who regularly checked on students and helped with practical matters during our stay. Living with a host family gave me a better understanding of Australian culture and daily life. I would definitely recommend this programme to anyone considering short-term study abroad.
